About

I have been involved in education my entire life.  As a life-long learner and teacher, I have been involved in formal education since 1983 serving as a secondary teacher, coach, campus minister, dean of students, assistant principal, principal and president in six different schools. What I believed in 1983, I still believe today — through education, we have an incredible opportunity to transform the world by assisting with the development of each student with whom we are entrusted.

One of the many really neat things about education is that the work itself is both an art and a science.  We know more than ever about the science of education; human development, how the brain works, what skills might best serve young people, incorporating the use of technology, and new developments in professional development just to name a very few.  The art part of education includes the personal touch, by that I mean getting to know our students and what makes them tick.  As cliche as it sounds, it is about teaching the student, not teaching the content.

I get gigged up about helping move groups, or organizations forward.  Seeing the big picture, assessing the challenges and strengths of an organization and then helping to create programs and strategies to move forward together is one of my strengths.  I have a natural curiosity and a love of learning that helps me to stay abreast in current ideas and trends and I have the ability to communicate those ideas to the larger community.
